F.A.Q.'s about Lashes & Brows

Expert Lashes & Brows in Southbank Melbourne

When you're looking for somewhere really experienced to go for your lashes and brows, you want to know they're going to do a great job.

Because let's face it: one bad brow shape can take YEARS to recover from.

That's why we don't believe in rushing through lashes and brows or treating every face, brow and lash the same.

At Natasha's Skin Spa in Southbank Melbourne, we've been doing lashes and brows for years. We use professional products, proper processing times and techniques that are chosen around your lashes, your brows and the result you actually want.

And because we know people often have a few questions before they book, here are some of the questions we're asked most often.

Brow Shaping

Do you offer threading?

No — we don't offer threading.

There are a few reasons for this, but mainly because we prefer the precision and finish we can achieve with our professional brow waxing technique.

Threading can be very effective, and we know it's a traditional brow-shaping method that many people love. But once our clients try our way of doing brows, many tell us they wouldn't go back to thread.

For us, it's about getting the cleanest possible result while being as gentle as we can on the delicate skin around the eyes.

So what do you use to shape brows?

A professional hybrid wax.

And here's something that's worth knowing:

Wax is a category, not a single product.

It's a bit like saying "moisturiser". There are thousands of completely different formulations that all fall under the same category.

The professional hybrid wax we use is quite different from the old-fashioned resin waxes you may have experienced elsewhere. It's a high-quality formulation that is expensive for us to buy — but we think it's worth every cent.

We love it because it allows us to work very precisely and remove even the tiniest hairs while being extremely gentle on the skin.

Our brow-waxing technique is designed to give you:

  • a smooth, clean finish
  • extremely precise brow shaping
  • removal of tiny, fine hairs
  • less pulling and stretching of the delicate skin
  • less irritation than some traditional hair-removal techniques
  • a beautifully clean brow line

And, importantly, we don't believe your brows should all look the same.

Your face isn't the same as everyone else's, so your brow shape shouldn't be either.

Lash Lifts

Do you do Korean lash lifts?

Yes.

We offer Korean-method lash lifts, as well as other lash-lifting techniques.

The Korean approach is particularly useful when you want to create a beautifully open, lifted look from the base of the lashes while keeping lash condition front of mind.

But here's the thing:

The "right" lash lift isn't necessarily the biggest lash lift.

Most of our clients want the ultimate amount of lift from the base upwards — that gorgeous wide-open, bright-eyed look.

But some clients want something completely different.

Maybe you have naturally straight lashes and just want a gentle, natural curve.

Maybe you don't want to look particularly "done".

That's a vibe too.

We all have a different interpretation of beauty.

So before we start, we talk to you about the result you're actually looking for and choose the technique accordingly.

Brow Tinting

Do you do henna brow tints?

No, we don't offer henna brow tinting.

Henna can cause allergic reactions, and because the skin around the eyes is particularly delicate, we prefer to use professional brow-tinting systems that give us much more control over the colour and result.

We also don't believe you need henna to create a beautifully defined brow.

There are other options available that allow us to customise the colour and intensity to suit you.

Henna for beautiful mehendi on your hands and arms?

Absolutely — provided you're not allergic to it.

Around the eyes?

It's not something we choose to offer.

What do you use for your lash and brow tints?

We use RefectoCil, a professional tinting system that we've trusted for around 25 years.

It's reliable, consistent and gives us a huge amount of control over the final colour.

We also offer RefectoCil's hybrid gel stain for clients who want more definition.

So you have two main options:

RefectoCil Classic

Our traditional tint option is ideal when you want beautifully coloured lashes or brows without a strong skin-staining effect.

We can mix colours to create the shade we actually want — rather than simply choosing between "light brown" and "dark brown".

RefectoCil Hybrid Gel

The hybrid gel is different because it is designed to stain both the hair and the skin.

This can be fantastic if you love a stronger, more defined brow.

It's also particularly useful if you have very sparse brows and need a little extra definition where there simply isn't much hair.

"I hate it when my brows are really dark for the first few days."

We hear this one a LOT.

You don't want to walk out of your brow appointment with incredibly dark brows and then wait several days for them to settle down.

We get it.

And there's a much better way of approaching it.

A common problem is that some salons simply don't have enough tint colours available.

They might have:

Light Brown

and

Dark Brown

…and that's about it.

So when someone wants a medium brown, the therapist may apply the tint and remove it almost immediately.

You've probably even been told:

"I'm going to put the tint on and take it straight off."

The problem is that this doesn't necessarily give you the best or longest-lasting result.

Professional tint is designed to process for a specific amount of time. If you remove it much earlier, you may get a lot of colour sitting on the outside of the hair without achieving the same depth and longevity you would get from proper processing.

Yes, your brows may look less dark initially.

But you may also find that the colour disappears much faster.

And that's a waste of your money and your appointment.

How do we stop your brow tint being too dark?

It's actually quite simple.

We choose the right colour in the first place.

Because we stock a full range of professional tint colours, we aren't restricted to "light brown" or "dark brown".

We can choose the shade that actually matches the result you want.

And we can custom mix colours when necessary.

Then we allow the tint to process properly.

That means we're not relying on a quick "put it on and whip it straight off" technique to try to achieve a lighter colour.

Instead, we're choosing the right colour from the beginning and allowing it to develop properly.

So if you're used to having your tint taken off almost immediately, your first appointment with us might feel a little strange.

You may think:

"Is it supposed to be on for this long?"

Yes.

But when we've chosen the right colour for you, the result shouldn't be "darker for the first few days".

It should simply be the colour you actually wanted — and a result that lasts.

Lash Lift Aftercare

"My therapist recommended lash aftercare. Is it really necessary, or are they just trying to sell me something?"

We understand why you might wonder.

You don't want to be sold a bunch of products you don't need.

But when it comes to lash lifts, aftercare genuinely matters.

Here's why.

Most of us use products around our eyes every day.

Mascara is designed to coat and build up the appearance of the lashes.

Eye makeup removers are designed to help products glide away.

Micellar waters can also leave ingredients behind.

None of this is necessarily a problem.

But it can become relevant when you're about to have a chemical lash-lifting service.

And yes — all lash lifting is a chemical process.

If someone tells you their lash lift is "non-chemical", that's a bit like saying they have hydrogen-free water.

It's not really a thing.

A lash lift works by changing the structure of the hair so that it can be reshaped into a new position.

That means we want your lashes to be as clean and free from product buildup as possible before the treatment.

If there is significant buildup on the lashes, it can interfere with how consistently the lifting products work.

That's one of the reasons we take lash preparation and aftercare seriously.

The three products we recommend for lash-lift clients

Depending on your lashes and your routine, we may recommend:

1. An eye makeup remover that cleans without leaving heavy residue

You want your lashes genuinely clean — not coated in another layer of product.

2. A mascara designed with lash-lift clients in mind

If you're having lash lifts regularly, your everyday mascara matters.

3. A lash aftercare serum

A lash lift changes the structure of the hair, so we want to support the condition of those lashes afterwards.

Think of it as looking after the investment you've just made in your lashes.

We don't recommend aftercare just to sell you something.

We recommend it because we want your lash lift to look better for longer and your lashes to stay in beautiful condition.

If we recommend a product, we'll tell you why we think you need it.

And if you don't need it?

We won't tell you that you do.

Our goal is long-term lash and brow health — not simply getting you through today's appointment.

Lashes & Brows in Southbank Melbourne

If you're looking for a lash lift, brow shape or brow tint in Southbank, we'd love to look after you.

We don't believe in one-size-fits-all lashes and brows.

We believe in looking at your face, your natural lashes and brows, your colouring and the result you actually want— then choosing the technique and products accordingly.

Because great lashes and brows aren't just about doing the treatment.

It's about knowing what you're doing, why you're doing it, and when NOT to do something.

That's the difference experience makes.
